My name is Madeline Irizarry, I am a Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern. I have worked as a Register Mental Health Therapist Intern providing services to clients with a variety of emotional and behavioral difficulties and challenges. I have participated on a Mental Health Panel on Facebook life addressing anxiety and depression and providing resources to manage symptoms.
I hold a master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from Palm Beach Atlantic University. Bachelor’s degree in Spanish Language from Evangel University in Springfield, Missouri; and a second bachelor’s degree on Deaf Culture with a Minor on Bible Studies from Central Bible College, Springfield, MO.
We all have our own journey in life. At times, we all need help navigating the challenges of life and our fears. Each client is unique with their own set of needs and struggles. My approach is to tailor each session to meet each client needs while maintaining their dignity. I take pride in helping my clients overcome their challenges and make them feel empowered.
In session I utilized the Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) approach and Play Therapy when working with both young clients and adults displaying anxiety, low self-esteem, and depression. It is imperative to listen to the clients’ stories. It is the key to help each client reaching their goals.
As a bilingual therapist, I draw from my own cultural background when working with non- English-speaking clients. Often times, the language is a barrier and therefore, would not seek help.
At a personal level, I enjoy spending time with family, playing the guitar, travel and the outdoors. Some of my favorite outdoor things to do is kayaking, cycling, and hiking.
